When we talk about cancer, it is one of the scariest words in medical terminology or language. Which is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth which results from the division of the abnormal cells. Mouth cancer or also known as oral cancer is the cancer of the lining of the lips, upper throat and mouth. Early stages of this infrequently cause any pain in the areas. The growth of abnormal cells doesn't show up that much.

Having said, the scary aspect of oral cancer is that it's not usually detected until a late stage. But the good thing is oral cancer examination can detect early signs of cancer. Most of the dentist will execute the test during the regular oral checkup. During this examination, the hygienist will check her face, lips and entire mouth for the possible signs or symptoms of it.
One treatment for this would be the Radiotherapy which used doses of radiation to kill cancerous cells. Oral cancer, it is normally used after the surgery to prevent cancer from returning. In throat cancer, it's often the first treatment to be given, in combination with medication (chemoradiotherapy).
Oral cancer is very curable if diagnosed and prevented on an early stage. A dentist easily figures out oral cancer in its early stage as they examined the mouth fully. That is why it is very important to visit your dentist for a checkup.A regular dental check-up is important because they help keep your teeth and gums healthy. You should have a regular dental visit at least every 6 months or as recommended by your dental professional. There are 2 parts to a regular dental visit – check-up, or examination and the cleaning, or oral prophylaxis.
